John Denyer APGI

Family Dogs Services is a dog training business run by married couple John & Claire Denyer, based in Maidstone, Kent, where John provides a wide range of dog training services and enjoys working with owners to get the most out of their pets through correct education and training that the dogs enjoy.

John works with dogs of all ages and abilities in both pet gundog training and general obedience, in helping to create behaviour changes in dogs that have problem behaviours.

John is passionate about pet gundog training and showing owners how appropriate training can help prevent behavioural problems and that gundog training doesn't require harsh handling.

The Pet Gundog classes run week days and weekends fortnightly, allowing of time to practice what you are learning between classes. Classes include: Beginner Pet Gundog, Novice Pet Gundog, Intermediate Pet Gundog, Advanced Pet Gundog and Working Pet Gundog.

These classes are part of a progressive programme aimed to bring out the best in your dog whilst building the foundations of gundog training and John also offers 1-2-1 Pet Gundog training.

John has developed a niche for working with reluctant retrievers. A reluctant retriever presents itself in various ways: dogs not picking-up, losing interest or seeming distracted, spitting out the dummy, mantling and guarding the retrieving item, and, playing keep away, to name a few. These are all traits of a reluctant retriever, and, it can happen to any dog regardless of breed. John is proud to be able to get positive results with gundogs which other trainers often overlook.

John trains with up to 40 dogs a week through regular classes and 1-2-1 training sessions but still finds time to enter competitions with his own dogs and assist with local dog show events which has included judging dog shows, providing demonstrations and running temperment testing at Dogfest.

On request John also undertakes behavioural consultations assisting owners in overcoming problem behaviours from toilet training through to aggression.
