Gary Mulvaney APGIA

Gary Mulvaney APGI ᴬ walking his dogs

Based in the North West of England, the key to Gary’s training is to be practical with an everyday approach, getting back to and identifying good communication between dog and owner using kindness, psychology, body language and emotions.

His canine family consists of Maureen (Hungarian wirehaired Vizsla’s) and Joan (working cocker spaniel) who are continually helping him understand what living with dogs is all about; they really are his best friends.

Frustration, anger and generally being fed up with communication difficulties are common in the relationships we have with our dogs. Developing a really good relationship and opening the communication between the partnerships is what Gary’s training is all about; helping you find ways to do this is his passion.

Gary’s training ethics are to approach dog training with kindness and understanding of the individual dogs and owner’s needs. Training has to be enjoyable for both parties as the short-term effort in training equals long term gains which in turn will lead to a more harmonious relationship.

Having trained all of his dogs from puppies into adulthood to a great standard, and in doing so creating a bond of understanding; Gary believes this to be an excellent grounding for day-to-day activities at home, out and about, and giving really useful foundations for other types of training.

Understanding all the above is why he trains his dogs using the Pet Gundog Training methods. It allows him to have working dogs living within the home that are pets first and foremost, while training them in the way their breeding dictates allows his dogs to lead a more settled life. This is done by training to a good Pet Gundog standard that is both exciting, enjoyable and rewarding, plus you get the bonus of teaching the dogs good manners, patience and self-control, all of which are important to having a happy and settled home.
