Claire Denyer APGI

Claire Denyer is part of Family Dogs Services, a dog training business specialising in Pet Gundog training run by married couple Claire & John Denyer, based in Maidstone, Kent.

Claire aims to help dog owners get their training right first time and help them correct any unwanted behaviours that may occur during their dog’s development.

Claire is passionate about pet gundog training and showing owners how appropriate training can help prevent behavioural problems and that gundog training doesn't require harsh handling.

The Pet Gundog classes run week days and weekends fortnightly, allowing of time to practice what you are learning between classes. Classes include: Beginner Pet Gundog, Novice Pet Gundog, Intermediate Pet Gundog, Advanced Pet Gundog and Working Pet Gundog.

These classes are part of a progressive programme aimed to bring out the best in your dog whilst building the foundations of gundog training.

Claire has a passion for, and specialises in working with, reluctant retrievers. Whether the owner wants to work their pet gundog or not, having a reluctant retriever can bring unwanted behaviours, and potential risks.

A reluctant retriever presents itself in various ways: dogs not picking-up, losing interest or seeming distracted, spitting out the dummy, mantling and guarding the retrieving item, and, playing keep away, to name a few. These are all traits of a reluctant retriever, and, it can happen to any dog regardless of breed. Claire is proud to be able to get positive results with gundogs which other trainers often overlook.

Claire has been involved in various activities with her own dogs including gundog training, agility, obedience, displays and shows. Claire and one of her dogs also featured on Sports Relief Top Dog T.V show in 2014.

Claire is thrilled to be able to put her passion and knowledge to good use helping owners of varying breeds and issues with their training needs.

Claire works with dogs of all ages and abilities in both general obedience and gundog training and offers 1-2-1 training and workshops.
