Cheryl has always been fortunate enough having dogs in her life, from growing up with Poodles to Dobermans and in the last 15 years she has gained a passion of the Gundog breeds. Mainly spending time with her springer spaniels and labradors, she enjoys working and training these very intelligent gundogs and has learnt how to motivate them but also have them switch off in a home environment.

Having a passion for the outdoor life Cheryl helps her partner Joe, also of Southdowns dog services, to train their spaniels to competitive level, and working her team of spaniels and labs in the picking up line, beating and rough shooting. Cheryl understands the needs of each discipline when training gundogs and how to adapt training for specific training goals.

Cheryl appreciates the bond and connection you can have with your dog when you train breed specific training. Cheryl can help you teach your dog to have manners and settle indoors but yet still help harness a gundogs natural instincts and drive outside through training.

Cheryl specialises in making sure your dog understands what you're asking of them, teaching you how to read your dogs body language and understand what your dog is telling you from their body language. Helping you communicate is key in training. Making sure that you're clear, consistent and insistent, showing you how to prevent unwanted behaviour, change unwanted behaviour and encourage the right behaviour.

Cheryl has added education to her passion in becoming qualified and training to become an APGI, she has gained knowledge that she can pass on to her clients and help them gain a well mannered, obedient dog which will ultimately increase your bond and understanding of each other. Cheryl has the advantage of being part of a great network of trainers which all support each other and help each other should any problems need solving. The network is all based on real proven and fair training methods.
